Spring means shedding season for most pets, and the proper grooming tools can make the process quicker and more comfortable for your pet. Invest in high-quality brushes that suit your pet’s coat type. Brush out loose hair and tangles before giving them a bath. Check their ears and trim long hair around their feet.
Like your home, your pet’s space can benefit from a thorough spring clean. Wash bedding, toys, and food dishes to remove dirt. Declutter by replacing worn-out items with new ones that will make your pet’s space more comfortable and hygienic. Donate any pet products that are in good condition. Clean any areas your pet frequents to eliminate fur, dust, and flea eggs.
Regularly checking your pet’s collar, leash, and harnesses for wear and tear is crucial for their safety. If any of these items show signs of damage, it’s important to replace them. Ensuring your pet’s ID tags and microchip information are up to date so they can easily be returned to you if they go missing.
As the seasons change, so do your pet’s nutritional needs. Spring is a great time to assess their weight and make any necessary adjustments. If you can’t easily feel your pet’s ribs when you run your hand along their side, then it is time for a weigh in at your vet clinic.
